Have you ever wanted to be able to say you know some rocket science? Now you can! WonderLab is adding Rocket Lab, a show all about the science of rockets, to its repertoire of popular Interactive Science Shows. These shows are available as part of WonderLab Outreach: specially designed shows that bring the wonders of WonderLab to a school, party, or special event. The newest program, Rocket Lab is available to be booked beginning in May 2019.

“A big part of WonderLab’s message is making science accessible for all,” said Nick Whites, WonderLand Museum outreach and elementary education specialist. “And what better way is there to make science accessible than to bring it to you?”

WonderLab has two different types of outreach programs, Hands-on Activity Station Packages and Interactive Science Shows.

Hands-on Activity Station Packages are facilitated, hands-on STEM activities for schools or special events. There are four different Hands-on Activity Station Packages  including:

  • Full STEAM Ahead!
  • Let’s Do Chemistry!
  • Science of Sound and Music
  • Tech Takeover

Interactive Science Shows are presentations for audiences of various sizes. But these are no dry as dust lectures. This is science WonderLab style and includes all the bells, whistles, fire and thrills that make science so spectacular. Shows can be booked for a variety of events, including birthday parties, corporate events, school assemblies, STEM nights, and more. Interactive Science Show topics include:

  • Rocket Lab
  • Hair-Raising Science
  • Stranger Than Fiction
  • Bright Science
  • Epic Cold

“Rocket Lab is a very exciting addition to our Interactive Science Shows,” Whites said. “Rocket science is something you can’t safely get hands-on experience with from your own home, so we’re doing the next best thing and bringing rocket science to you in a fun, safe way.”

At Rocket Lab audience members will see a live demonstration of how a mock rocket engine works. They will experience the physics of how rockets stay in orbit and functions in space. The audience will also see just how volatile hydrogen rocket fuel is. As with all of WonderLab’s Interactive Science Shows Rocket Lab will include a plethora of opportunities for audience participation.

WonderLab outreach programs differ depending on size and activity. To book Rocket Lab or any other outreach program go to wonderlab.org/outreach or call WonderLab.
