Science Night Out Gala: Magnified
Saturday, September 15, 2018
Zoom In: 6pm – 7:15pm
Focus Begins: 7:30pm
Come join us for WonderLab’s largest fundraiser of the year, Science Night Out: Magnified! All around us, tiny organisms work to make our environment beautiful and our planet habitable. This year, we are taking a closer look at the incredible creatures in our community which affect our everyday lives. This year’s fifteenth annual gala will be an elegant and eye-opening evening affair with hands-on science fun, cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, entertainment, and more at the Monroe Convention Center. After attending, guests will never look at the world the same way again!
WonderLab is delighted to announce this year’s featured speaker: renowned biologist, Emmy Award winner, and IU professor, Dr. Roger Hangarter! Roger revolutionized his field by studying plant development through genetics, a technique which is now used throughout the world. However, making breakthroughs in science wasn’t enough for Roger: He wanted to break through to the public—to help everyone see the incredible world around us. He began creating time-lapses of how plants and animals grow, develop, and metamorphose. Through these time-lapses, Roger reveals a world previously unnoticed as he explains the amazing processes taking place. Dr. Hangarter has been featured in 21 museums and won an Emmy for his time-lapses.
Silent auction items are available to bid on now.
