For the third year running, WonderLab is proud to host WonderLab After Dark: Chocolate! This 21 and over event is on Saturday, February 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. and is part of the Life Designs: Week of Chocolate 2019. Come and explore the science and history of the world’s greatest sweets, and grab a carefully-paired drink while you do it!

“We might not think about it all the time, but there’s a lot of science in chocolate,” said Sarah Lynn Wells, WonderLab’s secondary and adult education specialist. “After Dark: Chocolate lets us explore chocolate through lenses of anthropology, chemistry, engineering, and more.”

This year is gearing up to be the best yet, with partners and activities sure to satisfy taste buds and brain cells alike. Crumble Coffee & Bakery will showcase the different types of chocolate and will walk you through how to bake with cocoa before wowing you with samples of different chocolate cakes.

Bloomington Chocolate Company, the group formerly known as PeaceTree Mountain Truffles, will teach you how to temper chocolate and provide delicious samples of chocolate truffles. Dr. Anya Royce from the Indiana University Department of Anthropology will show you how the history of chocolate has an impact on your everyday life.

Enjoy a virtual reality showcase of how M&M’s are made along with chocolate M&M cookies from Baked of Bloomington. The Soapy Soap Company fellows will be on hand to walk you through making soap out of chocolate.

There’s more here than just a good time and tasty chocolate. Pizza X will provide food for the event, meals free with entry. There will also be cash bars for Switchyard Brewery, Oddball Fermentables, and Friendly Beasts.

Stop by WonderLab on Saturday, February 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. to fill your belly and your brain with chocolate. Members may purchase tickets early online for $15, and non-members may do the same for $18. Tickets cost $20 at the door.

WonderLab After Dark is sponsored by Griffin Realty and Mira Salon and Spa.
