COLLEGE INTERNSHIPS & WORK-STUDY JOBS

WonderLab offers valuable field experiences for college students. Internships for course credit must be approved by the student's school or department. WonderLab has hosted interns from many different disciplines, including many non-science fields. Depending on the position, the internship may be available as an unpaid position, as a paid position (stipend or work-study funding), or for course credit. Check with the internship supervisor.

ANIMAL EXHIBITS Internship Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Sara Beatty • Provide animal care & feeding several times/week • Assist with habitat maintenance • Aid in research and development of animal demos and interpretive materials	Specific Qualifications • Interest in biology and animals • Reliable with a strong work ethic • Weekend availability preferred
BIRTHDAY PARTY Internship Open Winter 2012 (primarily weekends) Supervisor: Andrea Oeding • Greet and work with children and parents • Assist in set up and clean up • Lead party science activity	Specific Qualifications • Saturday and/or Sunday availability • Experience/comfort with children and adults
CAMP DIRECTOR Assistant Open Late Spring/Summer 2012 Supervisor: Colleen Couper • Help buy, pack, and set up materials and supplies • Assist director with administrative tasks • Help teachers with activities and directing interns • Supervise children on playground at lunch hour	Specific Qualifications: • Availability from May through July • Must have reliable car transportation • Experience/comfort with children and adults • Outstanding organizational skills
Coordinator of HIGH SCHOOL INTERNS Open Late Spring/Summer 2012 Supervisor: Jeanne Gunning • Handle inquiries and screen applicants • Schedule interns for summer • Coordinate with camp director on intern roles • Supervise and mentor interns at camp • Manage records of prospective and active interns • Manage intern evaluations and recognition event	Specific Qualifications • Work experience with teens and volunteers • Availability from May through July • Proficient in use of Word and Excel (PC) • Must have reliable transportation
DEVELOPMENT Intern Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Courtney Schmidt • Pre-event preparation for annual gala fundraiser • Enter confidential donor information in database • Assist with filing and other administrative tasks	Specific Qualifications • Strong interest in special event planning • Excellent writing and communication skills • Attention to detail and accuracy • Proficient in Word and Excel (Mac)
EXHIBITS Interns No Openings at this Time Supervisor: Tony Ritchel • Help maintain/repair exhibits • Assist with preventive maintenance and cleaning • Help develop and install new exhibits	Specific Qualifications • Ability to lift 75 pounds and climb • Experience with power and hand tools • Availability on Mondays, plus some weekday afternoons and evenings
GALLERY Assistant Open Summer 2012 Main Supervisor: Mike Voyles This internship offers broad experience working in a museum in the areas of Gallery Operations as a floor manager, Programs Department, Volunteer Department, and in the WonderLab garden.	Specific Qualifications • Flexibility and ability to learn new skills • Ability to interact with people of all ages • Proficiency working on Mac computers • Experience in gardening, interpretation, natural science, or education a plus
GRAPHIC DESIGN Intern Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Louise Schlesinger • Carry out print and web design projects • Maintain WonderLab brand • Conduct photo shoots as needed	Specific Qualifications • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite • Preference given to BFA students
MARKETING Intern Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Louise Schlesinger • Help with traditional and social media marketing • Conduct research & analyze visitor patterns • Maintain media contact lists and archives	Specific Qualifications • Excellent organizational skills • Demonstrated writing skills • Experience w/ online marketing • Preference given to marketing majors
MEMBERSHIP Intern Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Esther Smail • Process mailings, update database and file • Project work (e.g., surveys, e-updates, events)	Specific Qualifications • Ability to learn and use new software
PROGRAM ASSISTANT Intern Open Summer 2012 Main Supervisor: Staci Radford-Vincent • Research, develop, implement and evaluate new and existing programs. • Coordinate and present specific on-site museum programs	Specific Qualifications • Experience with youth and/or families • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines • Excellent organization and attention to detail • Prefer science background and experience developing or coordinating programs
SUSTAINABILITY COORDINATOR Intern Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Mike Voyles • Plan and lead interpretive activities in garden • Maintain garden and supervise garden volunteers • Supervise recycling and composting program • Assess program effectiveness and develop community partnerships as needed	Specific Qualifications • Must be available 200+ hours w/ weekend availability • Excellent communication skills • Experience with areas of reponsibility • Comfortable with independent research
VISITOR SERVICES Interns Spring and Summer 2012 Openings Supervisor: Jennifer Jenkins • Be a friendly greeter of museum visitors • Sell admissions, memberships, gift store items • Assist manager in other tasks as assigned	Specific Qualifications • Ability to learn computerized register • Retail or customer service experience
VOLUNTEER SERVICES Interns Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Jeanne Gunning • Be a friendly greeter of volunteers • Schedule volunteers via phone and email • Maintain database records • Assist with training sessions and materials prep	Specific Qualifications • Ability to learn PC-based database software • Friday and Saturday or Sunday availability • Volunteer experience preferred
WEBSITE/SOCIAL MEDIA Assistant Open Summer 2012 Supervisor: Louise Schlesinger • Analyze and help maintain/upgrade new website • Create new content for social media sites • Help troubleshoot maintenance problems	Specific Qualifications • Experience with website analysis and design • Experience shooting and editing videos • Proficient using English language
