Increase the educational value of your self-directed group visit by adding an interactive demonstration or lab session! These sessions take place in a Lab Room for your group alone. The content supports Indiana Academic Standards in Science, and the presentation is adjusted as appropriate for the group's grade level.
Demonstrations and lab sessions must be requested at the time you schedule as an upgrade to your basic group visit. There is an additional fee for a demonstration or lab session. Cancellation fees may apply to cover the cost of specialized supplies.
DEMONSTRATIONS
Length: 30 minutes
Maximum for each session: 40 individuals (exception:Animal Adaptations is limited to 30 individuals)

| Grades K-4 | Stuffee and the Human Body. We're all different on the outside, but we're all the same inside. Discover the body's organs, especially the digestive and cardiovascular systems, as we open up Stuffee, a huge "stuffed" doll, and see what's inside. Includes discussion about nutrition. |

| Grades 3+ | The Awesome Power of Air. Air surrounds us and takes up space, but what is it? Can you freeze it? Dissolve it? Capture it? Find out as we create colorful chemical reactions, implosions, and explosions! |
| Grades 3+ | Static Electricity. Take part in some hair-raising experiments using the Van de Graaff generator, a machine that produces 400,000 volts of static electricity and makes invisible electrical forces dramatically visible. Includes discussion of lightning. |
| Grades 3+ | Colors of Combustion. Investigate the science of fire in a visually spectacular demonstration of foot-tall colored flames! Learn about energy from light and how different chemicals produce flames of different colors. The demonstration covers real-world applications, such as fireworks, and emphasizes fire safety. |
| Grades 4+ | Super Cold Science. Heat is a form of energy that affects whether something takes a solid, liquid, or gas form. We'll have lots of fun demonstrating this with liquid nitrogen, a super cold substance that instantly changes an object's properties in surprising ways. |

| PreK-K | Awesome Air. It fills balloons, it lets us breathe, and it can be a lot of fun! It's air! We’ll huff and puff our way through this lab session and discover lots of neat stuff about the air around us. |
| Grades 1-3 | Great Gravity! Can you resist the pull? Find out how gravity is at the center of your balance and movements through demonstrations, physical challenges and even the construction of a simple toy. |
| Grades 1-3 | Solids and Liquids: The Weird and the Wonderful. Take a tour of these different states of matter. Through a series of demonstrations and hands-on activities, learn about the characteristics that distinguish solids from liquids. Then, discover some super secrets about weird solids and liquids! |
| Grades 2-4 | Feel the Noise. Get loud and clear with the physics of sound and learn how good vibrations are the source of the sound of music. |
| Grades 3-5 | Power Surge. Learn about the link between magnetism and electricity. Students will work in small groups to study magnets, construct electric circuits, and learn about the Earth's magnetic poles. |
| Grades 3-5 | Cell Works. See how the parts of a cell work together, like machinery in a factory, to create products like skin, hair, muscle and more! Students will create models to visualize cell structures too small to see. |
| Grades 4-6 | Hot Technology. Explore the different ways we capture solar energy and put it to use to do everything from cooking our food to powering our homes. Students will learn about the nature of the sun, the difference between passive solar and solar energy, and the new technology that helps us capture the sun's energy. |
| Grades 6-8 | Cells from the Inside Out. Go on a journey from the nucleus of the cell to its outer boundary! Hands-on activities explore the function and structures of organelles and the diversity of cell types. Career paths in biology and medicine will be discussed. |
