Let WonderLab bring a selection of exciting science activities and demonstrations to you for creative and interactive science experiences! We offer activity-based assembly demonstrations and festivals for large and small groups at schools and community events. If you prefer, you may select the unstaffed "Do-It-Yourself Science" option. Please ask about custom arrangements if the options listed below do not meet your needs. Whatever option you choose, be sure to check the section on the Special Things You Need to Know About Outreach.

ASSEMBLY DEMONSTRATIONS

If you need to serve a large number of students in a limited period of time, these 45-minute interactive science demonstrations are the perfect choice! Watch your students get excited about science by observing and participating in some amazing experiments that will get them thinking, predicting and cheering!
Length: 45 minutes
Maximum group size: 150 individuals
Maximum # of shows: 3 in one day (with minimum of 20 minutes to reset between shows)

DEMONSTRATION

Grades 2-4 Stranger Than Fiction. What could be better than a demonstration that combines literature with science? This exciting show explores the science behind phenomenon described in classic and popular literature such as Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, The Wizard of Oz, One Thousand and One Nights, and more tales from around the globe!

Basic: Grades 3-5
Advanced: Grades 6-8

The Awesome Power of Air. What is air? Can you freeze it? Dissolve it? Capture it? Find out in this interactive demonstration of the awesome power of air as we create colorful chemical reactions, implosions, and explosions!

Basic: Grades 1-3
Advanced: Grades 4-5 Hair-Raising Science. Spark your students' interest in science! In this highly visual demonstration about static electricity, we use a Van de Graff generator to create mini-bolts of lightning, "floating" packing peanuts, and a shockingly "bad hair" moment for volunteers from the audience.

FESTIVAL OPTIONS

WonderLab offers three size options: WonderFest (10 different activities), MiniFest (5 different activities), MicroFest (1 activity station) and Live Animal Demonstration (2 animals showing how different creatures adapt and survive in their natural habitat). These festival options can be tailored to the age of the audience and include a range of science activities. The following themed festival options also are available as a WonderFest or MiniFest.

THEMED FESTIVAL OPTIONS

Body Science Breakaway. Your body is one big science experiment just waiting to happen! Baffle your brain, get pinned down by your center of gravity, pick up a little “gross-ology,” and more while learning about science from head to toe.

Fabulous Physics of Sound. Explore the physics of sound! Find out how sound waves travel by sending your voice through a “hose phone,” use sound to make water jump into the air, find out exactly what a “boom-whacker” is, and more. Who knew that science could be this much “phun”!

The Wandering Wizard. Experience the magic of science when you attend WonderWarts School of Science Wizardry! Go to a variety of science magic “classes” where you’ll learn how to levitate a ping-pong ball, create an invisible map, make your own static electricity "wand" and more!

Festival Pricing

	Full Day 3-4 hours $25/hour each extra hour, with a 6 hour maximum length	Half Day Up to 2.5 hours
WonderFest	$600 for up to 200 participants and $75 for each additional 50 participants	$375 for up to 100 participants and $75 for each additional 50 participants

MiniFest	$300 for up to 200 participants and $35 for each additional 50 participants	$225 for up to 100 participants and $35 for each additional 50 participants

MicroFest is $100 for a single science activity station for one hour and $75 more for a second science activity and for each additional hour.

Live Animal Demonstration (two animals) is $150 for up to 60 participants and $75 more for each additional one-hour demonstration during the same visit.

SPECIAL THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT OUTREACH

Booking We recommend that you book an outreach event as far in advance as possible. All outreach programs must be confirmed two weeks prior to the event. Penalties apply for cancellation less than two weeks prior to a confirmed event.

What You Provide In order to ensure a successful outreach event, you should be prepared to provide space, tables, chairs and, if needed, electrical outlets and a convenient water supply. If you are located in Monroe County, you are responsible for providing half of the volunteers needed to staff the activity stations. If you are outside Monroe County, you also should plan to provide all of the volunteers needed to staff the activity stations.

Outreach events outside of Monroe County These are subject to a transportation fee of $0.55/mile round trip. Outreach events which are more than a one-hour drive from WonderLab are subject to an additional transportation surcharge of $15 per hour of travel round trip.

DO-IT-YOURSELF SCIENCE

If your budget is limited, you may wish to obtain supplies and training from WonderLab, and provide the activity at your event with your own volunteers! You must pick up and return the supplies and instruction sheets at WonderLab. An in-house training session with museum staff is required at the time you schedule to pick up supplies.

Base Price: $50 for one activity for up to 100 participants
Add Participants: $20 additional for supplies for up to 200 participants
Add Activity: $35 for each additional activity for up to 100 participants
