Let WonderLab bring a selection of exciting science exhibits, activities and demonstrations to you for creative and interactive science exploration! We'll come to your school, library, community center, festival, summer camp, athletic event or wherever you want us!

 

CLASSROOM LABS

These 45-60 minute sessions combine vivid demonstrations and engaging hands-on activities to address Indiana science standards. WonderLab will provide special materials not ordinarily found in the classroom. The maximum number of students per lab is 30 students.

• Primary Level

Hanging in the Balance [grades 1-3]
Content: balance, center of gravity, motion
Coolest Element: Participants make a balance toy

Going Through a Phase [grades 1-3]
Content: characteristics of solids and liquids, changing states of matter
Coolest Element: Exploration of a mysterious substance that has properties of both solids and liquids

• Elementary Level

Feel the Noise [grades 2-4]
Content: sound as a vibration, pitch
Coolest Element: Participants make a musical instrument

• Intermediate Level

Power Surge [grades 3-5]
Content: magnetism, electricity, Earth's magnetism
Coolest Element: Participants make a telegraph and use Morse Code

Hot Technology [grades 4-6]
Content: Sun, solar energy, solar power
Coolest Element: Participants learn how to build a solar oven

Classroom Lab Fees

$125 per lab
$75 for each additional session on the same topic

Live Animal Demonstration

$100 for one demonstration for up to two classes (45-60 minutes)
$75 for each additional demonstration in the same visit

Choose from among these themes: Body Science Breakaway, the Fabulous Physics of Sound or the Wandering Wizard! If these themes do not address your needs, please inquire about custom-themed MiniFest options.

Full Day [3-4 hours]

Half Day [1-2.5 hours]
$375 for up to 100 participants

• Single Science Activity Station

$100 for one activity for one hour
$75 for a second activity and for each additional hour

SCIENCE IN A BOX

If your budget is limited, you may wish to obtain activity supplies and training from WonderLab, but put on the event yourself! You must pick up the supplies and instruction sheets at WonderLab, as well as schedule an in-house training session at that time with museum staff.

$50 for one activity for up to 100 participants
$20 additional for supplies for up to 200 participants
$35 for each additional activity for up to 100 participants

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR TRAINING

Would you like ideas on how to bring science experiences into your preschool or daycare? WonderLab's one-hour training session will get your staff excited about integrating enriching science activities into your setting. Participants will get tips on approaches, activities, and resources for teaching science to young children.

$150 per one-hour session (maximum of 30 participants)
$75 for each additional session/hour

 

WHAT YOU PROVIDE

In order to ensure a successful outreach event, you should be prepared to provide space, tables, chairs and, if needed, electrical outlets and a convenient water supply. If you are located in Monroe County, you are responsible for providing half of the volunteers needed to staff the activity stations. If you are outside Monroe County, you also should plan to provide all of the volunteers needed to staff the activity stations.

INFORMATION AND RESERVATIONS

We recommend that you schedule an outreach event as far in advance as
possible. All outreach programs must be confirmed two weeks prior to the
event. Penalties apply for cancellation less than two weeks prior to a confirmed
event. We offer standard outreach packages and make custom arrangements.

Please Note: Outreach events outside of Monroe County are subject to a transportation fee of $0.50/mile round trip. Outreach events located outside a 60 mile radius from WonderLab are subject to an additional transportation surcharge of $15 per hour of travel round trip.
