Q: How early in advance must I book the birthday party?
A: All party reservations must be made at least two weeks prior to the event. However, the earlier you make your reservation the more likely your preferred party date and time will be available.
Q: How is the party room arranged?
A: The large party room (click here for diagram) has six tables for guests and is double the size of the small party room.
Q: Why is there a 10 or 20 child maximum for each size party room?
A: These numbers of birthday party guests, along with adult chaperones, are the maximum number of people who can comfortably use the regular and large private party rooms. If your party has a greater number of guests, please consider renting the museum for 50 to 300 guests.
Q: Do I have to make a down payment?
A: A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the party cost is required at the time you make the reservation. This deposit will ensure that your birthday party room is reserved for your requested day and time. The rest of your payment is due the day of your party after all the fun!
Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.
Q: I need to reschedule. What should I do?
A: Please call Celeste Wolfinger, museum visit coordinator, at 812-337-1337 ext. 11 if you need to reschedule or cancel your party. Full payment will be charged in the event of a “no call, no show” on the day of the party. Deposits are non refundable.
Q: Will there be attendants available to supervise my children?
A: No. The supervision of the children, during and after the party, is the responsibility of the adults hosting the party.
Q: Am I allowed to make changes to the birthday cake order?
A: Cancellation of or changes to a birthday cake order must be made at least ten (10) days before the party date. The full cake price is non-refundable if you cancel or make changes fewer than ten days before the party, or if you do not show up on the day of the party.
Q: What is included in the party favor bags?
A: Party favor bags include four items: WonderLab rainbow glasses, color change pencil, lollipop, and a science toy.
Q: What am I allowed to bring to my party?
A: You may bring any decorations that can be held up with masking tape or painters tape, or that can rest on a window sill or table. Balloons are allowed. You are welcome to bring any food as long as it remains in your private party room. We have a refrigerator/freezer to store drinks, ice cream and other perishable items on the day of your scheduled party. Pizza delivery is acceptable as long as there is someone to receive the pizza at the museum entrance.
Pinatas and games or toys, that will not be given as gifts, are not allowed. For more specific information on what is not allowed, contact Andrea Oeding, birthday coordinator, at 812-337-1337 ext. 23.
Q: What is the schedule during a hosted party?
A: Parties start at different times. Use this model of a 10:00 am start time as an example.
9:30 am - You and your family can arrive (1/2 hour before guests)
10:00 am - Guests start to arrive and children play on the second floor until we think most guests have arrived and are ready to start the party
10:30 am - We usually start with the party activity
10:50 am - Refreshments and cake served
11:15 am - Open gifts (optional)
11:30 am - Explore the museum on your own. (note: guests can stay until museum closes)
